NVIDIA Releases Ising, Open Models Built to Accelerate Quantum Computing
NVIDIA unveiled Ising — billed as the world's first family of open-source AI models purpose-built to accelerate quantum computing, targeting the hardest bottleneck in the field: error-correction decoding.

Aimed at quantum error correction. Qubits are extremely error-prone, and error-correction decoding is the make-or-break for whether quantum computing ever becomes practical. NVIDIA uses AI models to speed up that step — reportedly faster and more accurate than traditional methods.

NVIDIA is once again squatting at the tollbooth everyone has to pass — this time it's quantum. While everyone else argues about when quantum computing will be useful, Jensen has already started selling the shovels for it. Open source is the sugar coating; the real hook is this: the more your quantum error correction depends on its models, the more you'll depend on its chips down the line. The guy selling shovels never bets on which miner strikes gold — he bets everyone has to buy a shovel.
